AUDREY MAE STATHAM was called home by God on Friday, February 9, 2024.
Audrey, daughter of the late Calvin & Mamie Atkins was born in Baltimore, Maryland on June 25, 1938. She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She was the beloved mother of five children – Angela Linton, from her first marriage; and later in life, Otheria Statham, Otis Statham, Beatrice Statham, and Benita Smith from her second marriage.
Audrey was a woman of faith and service to God. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a
member at Bethany Christian Church until she later relocated to Charles City, Virginia. She enjoyed fellowshipping with her televangelist, Jimmy Lee Swaggart, until health challenges prevented her from doing so.
Audrey was an Eastern Star and member of the Ohio Grand Chapter of Cleveland, Ohio. She was
employed in various capacities which included the medical department at St. Alexis Hospital in
Cleveland, Ohio for over 40 years. She made numerous friends wherever she went and will sincerely be missed by everyone who knew her.
Audrey was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and advocate to many. In her leisure time, she enjoyed shopping, traveling, and breeding dogs. Those who were very close to her knew who the joy of her life was -(1) because she would do anything for them and (2) made it known that although her daughter gave birth to him, he belonged to her. Most will fondly remember Audrey for who she was, all that she has done, and for the positive influence she has had on them.
Audrey boarded flight “Heaven Bound”, and her departure was February 9, 2024, at approximately 7:30 pm. Jesus was her pilot, the Holy Spirit was her copilot, and all of God’s heavenly host was her flight attendants. She will be joined by her mother and father, her son (Otis Statham), her great- granddaughters (Tayler & Tyler Pickett), her brothers (Joseph Atkins and Ellsworth Atkins), and her sisters (Edith Ruth Hart, Ann Atkins, Marie Price, and Marguerite Walker), all who pre-deceased her.
Audrey leaves to cherish her legacy: children (Angela Linton, Otheria Statham Jr., Beatrice Statham, Benita Smith), son-in-law (Taurell Smith), brothers (Calvin E. Atkins, Curtis Atkins, Sr.), sister (Marilyn Adams), two sisters-in-law (Mary Young-Love and Ruth Comia Atkins), sixteen grandchildren (Ezell, Kaketria, Dontel, Deann, Dion, Demetrius, Jalesa, Jasmine, LuCiana, Otis Jr, Freddie, Tenisha, Tyrone Jr, Terence, Tyreese, Teausha), twenty-nine great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, a devoted cousin (Katrine Craft), and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends – too many to mention who loved her dearly.
