Auvrill Osborne, nee, London, fell asleep on November 17, 2024. She was born in British Guiana on February 25th, 1938, to Naomi and Evelyn London, both deceased. She was affectionately known as Sis, Sister Auvrill and Avo by those who knew and loved her. She hailed from #8 Village on the East Coast of Demerara and spent her formative years in the capital city, Georgetown. She attended Frederick’s School of Home Economics where she acquired her sewing and cooking skills. Auvrill was incredibly talented. She loved to sing with her beautiful soprano voice. She sang with a quartet at the Georgetown Town Hall on Sunday afternoons. She also loved to sew, which was a notable talent that made her famous in both Georgetown and Linden, where she created and established her business of making custom clothing. She taught anyone who was willing to learn how to sew. She made original designs for pageants and fashion shows. She was well known for her work, but Auvrill was a humble, modest person. If you had met her, you could never tell that she was the person behind the name. She was very hospitable and made sure that all who came to her home felt welcome and she always invited them to come again. Auvrill was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 19, 1971. She loved to talk with people about Jehovah and his wonderful promises, in which she herself had complete faith.
In 1978, she migrated to Cleveland Ohio and worked at Ray Phillips, Inc. as an alteration specialist. She was preceded in death by her parents Naomi and Evelyn London, her granddaughter, Charlene Henry and brothers Rudolph London, Oscar Edwards, and Wilfred Edwards, Jr. Auvrill will be remembered by her children Winston Osborne, Jr. (Marsha), Steve Henry (Gail), Faye Naftzger (Scott), Pauline Sandy (Staman), Paul Evelyn (Valencia), Charade Osborne (Jeremy), and Charmane Osborne. Grandchildren: Michael Simpson, Ramon Henry, Shavaughn Henry, Sherwin Thompson, Keasha Osborne, Jermaine Solomon, Christopher Evelyn, Allison Osborne-Nurse, McKayla Osborne, India Graham, Tiffany Graham, Mahlon Graham, Ian Graham, Jay Graham, Natasha Graves, Nadia Lane, Tiffany Sandy, Nickelon Lane, and Sherwin Lane.
Her siblings: Maurice London (Valda), Dyric London (Yvonne), Desire London, Wendley King (Arthur), Teresa Barker (Terrence), David London (Velma), Errol Alexis (Cecil), Reynold London and Michael London (Sherry), along with many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and her great-great- grandchildren Kingston and Kaylon.
Auvrill was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and loyal friend. She will be remembered for her hospitality, kindness, generosity, her peace-loving nature, and most of all as a faithful servant of Jehovah. She will be missed, but she will be remembered by everyone whose life she touched.
