On Saturday, November 4, 2023, God called home the beautiful soul of Barbara Jean Moore.
Barbara Jean Moore was born March 15, 1935 to the late Ethel Lee Miles and Lee Black in Demopolis, Alabama. She was Ethel’s only child. She relocated to Cleveland, Ohio with her mother and stepfather, Ben Miles. In 1953, she graduated from East Technical High School. Barbara accepted Christ at an early age. She later became a member of Grace Fundamental Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board until she became ill.
Barbara was united in holy matrimony to Thomas Turner Moore, Sr. on November 27, 1954. To this union four children were born: Lavelle (Tina), Thomas Jr. (Beany), Carlton Sr. (Pig) and Kevin. She was a devoted mother and wife. After 30 years of employment, she retired from Mr. Coffee.
Barbara loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and was known for her amazing sweet potato pie. She enjoyed traveling, going to the racetrack, amusement parks, and watching football. She truly had a heart of gold.
She was preceded in death by the late Lee Black (father); Ethel Lee Miles (mother) & step-father, Ben Miles.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Thomas Turner Moore Sr.; daughter, Lavelle Lackey (Daryl); sons, Thomas Turner Moore Jr. (Vicki), Carlton Moore Sr., and Kevin Moore; grandsons, Turand Moore, Andre Moore, Kornelius, Austin Moore, Shaquille Lackey (Jacqueline), and Carlton Moore Jr.; granddaughters, Maleea VanExel (Nick), Tianna Lackey, Jazmine Moore, LaKita Moore, and Zenobia Moore; great-granddaughters, Jada, Madisyn, Brianna, Amiah, Leea, and Londyn; great-grandsons, Andre Jr., Carlton III, Chase, Shaquille Jr., Kobe, and Jax; one aunt, Vera Brown, and a host of other relatives and friends.
