It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother, Barbara Jene Clark, affectionately known to everyone as Nannie or Bobbie. She was born on October 29, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, and peacefully departed this life surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Barbara was married to U.C. Gill (deceased), and to this union, two children were born: Eric and Bridgette. She later married Robert Lee Clark Sr. (deceased), and to this union, Robin Jeanette Clark and Robert Lee Clark Jr. were born.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Henry H. Foster and Ruthina Harris, as well as her grandparents, Bessie and Sam Harris. She was the second of ten children: Andrea and Dewitt Wofford (deceased), Barbara Clark (deceased), Barbara Anderson, Sylvester Williams III (Joyce), Jane Edgerson (deceased), Dale Foster (deceased), Ruth Johnson-Williams (Willie), Anita Foster (Bruce), Sylvia Williams, and Willie Williams.
In her earlier years, Barbara worked at the May Company and later found her calling in the hospitality industry. However, her true passion was being a homemaker and running her own daycare. She welcomed countless children into her home over the years, raising them with the same love and care as her own. She was proud to share that she had 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.
Barbara had a heart for children and was known for stepping in to raise anybody’s child when needed. She was a true Christian, walking in faith and favored by God. Those who knew her best would say she could be difficult and even a little tough at times, but beneath it all was a heart full of love and a deep devotion to her family and friends.
Barbara will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Her strength, faith, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the many lives she touched.
