Barbara Mootoo, better known as Lynn, passed away on 8/18/26 at the age of 77. She was born at Port of Spain General Hospital in Curepe, Trinidad. Lynn was the oldest child of Rosie Callis and Tamby Mootoo and the oldest child of Rosie’s 6 children. She got married to Patterson Adams at the age of 23, moved to Ohio, and had her 1st and only child, Ashlee Adams, at the age of 35. Lynn only had an 8th-grade education; however, she made a good life for herself. Lynn worked, taught herself to drive, and at one point, owned multiple properties. She was also very talented. Lynn cooked, baked, and could sew really well. She was known by close family and friends for her “fried bake.”
Lynn had a heart of gold. She was very forgiving and generous. She would give a stranger the shirt off of her back. Lynn was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was the family matriarch of her immediate family prior to her passing. Lynn is survived by her daughter, Ashlee Adams, granddaughter, Jaida, great-grandsons, Pierre Jr. and Ja’Aire, her bonus son, Daryl, 5 bonus grandchildren, and her siblings, Alice D’Heureux (Andrew D’Heureux), Eleanor Crawford (Darick Crawford), and Wayne Callis (Elaine Callis).
Her father, Tamby Mootoo, mother, Rosie Callis, and siblings Edwin Mootoo and Anna Gibson predeceased her.
Lynn will be deeply missed but always remembered.
