Barbara Thornton was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 31st, 1938 to James and Willie Mae Thornton. She was the youngest of nine children, all eight siblings preceded her in death.
Barbara Attended and graduated with honors from John Hay High School in 1957. A year out of high school she was hired by the U.S Navy as an administrative clerk, where she worked until she met the love of her life, Mr. Eddie Morrison and they were joined in holy matrimony on August 30, 1959. To this union four children were born.
Barbara accepted Christ as an early age and was a proud member of Zion Chapel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible Study, along with ensuring that her children were a part of the Church, all baptized and saved in the name of the savior Jesus Christ.
Barbara loved her family, fashion, fine clothing, mink coats, beautiful hats and purses, gospel music, R&B, dancing, and traveling the world with her husband. Barbara was a volunteer for the City Mission and worked the elections.
Barbara enjoyed her girlfriends, relationships that started in High School and lasting a lifetime. She was also a caring grandmother – she loved and enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
Barbara departed this life on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at her home surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren, after a long illness.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 65 years Eddie Morrison Sr., four children – Judith, Gina, Joan (Malik) and Eddie Jr., who preceded her in death. Nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Four special girlfriends Thelma Stokes, Margaret Winker, Delores Harvey and Janice Walker.
