Bernethia Mae Crews (Dean) affectionately known as Plunie, or Bernie was born April 9th, 1946 in Cleveland Ohio to the late Clarence Dean and Jo Amelia Pryor, both preceded in death and the loving stepfather Donald Pryor.
Bernethia attended Cleveland Public School System. Graduate of John Adams High School honored and awarded for 12 years of perfect attendance by Cleveland public schools. Attended Tri-C and JPC Computer school, graduating highest in the class with a certificate and business skills, PC essentials, windows, Microsoft word, Microsoft excel, Microsoft access, Microsoft Powerpoint, Typing, and PC specialist.
Later in 1965 married Thurman B. Chambers Jr. had two children from this Union Kimberly Chambers and Terrel B. Chambers (Candis). In 1982 she married Charles R Crews Sr. whom preceded her in death with no children from this Union. Bernethia later found a love connection where they shared many good times and some bad times together and committed to each other for over 20 years with Wilbur S. Steward whom proceeded her in death.
Bernethia enjoyed tutoring special students at Cranwood Elementary School, was a member of Cranwood P.T.A. and Chairwoman of Ways and Means Committee. A member Harvey Rice Elementary P.T.A. where she was recognized and honored as Grandmother of the year. In Bernethia’s years of working, she was a mail sorter for twelve years and group leader at RL Polk &Go. Six years at Kirkwood Industries as a CNC Commutator checker. Bernethia also spent six years at Westminster Weinberg & Reis Law Office as an Administrative Supporter, Alphanumeric Data Entry, and Notary Public.
Bernethia loved cooking, fishing, bus tours, eating out at restaurants, bingo, playing cards, and watching the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Bernethia leaves to cherish her memories: 15 Grandchildren, Douglas, Darnell, Demetrius, Danielle, Derek, D’Sean, Leighton, Arielle, MyLinda, Alexis, Jaeda, Terrell, George, Geostice, Jayla. Siblings: Patricia A. Harris deceased (Jihad), George E. Dean deceased (Mattie), Jeannette Washington, Sonya M. Keyes, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
