Bernice Green was born to the union of Roger & Annie Rice on May 14th, 1937, in Water Valley Mississippi. She left Mississippi at a young age to find her way of life in Cleveland, Ohio where she resided until her passing on October 6th, 2025, at the great age of 88. During her early years in Cleveland, she meets the love of her life Archie Green. They married young and during their union a son was born Charles D. Green. Bernice was an awesome wife and caregiver to her husband Archie Green. Unfortunately, Bernie became a widow in November of 1995. However, she carried the title Widow proudly because she knew she was an awesome wife and caregiver to her husband.
Bernice lived a great life. She was a “people’s person” to know her was to love her and people genuinely loved to be round her. She exemplified love, joy and kindness.
Bernice loved the Lord. She found her faith early in life as a Christian and didn’t mind sharing her faith with others and singing of his goodness. In her early years of life, she sang in the quartet choir at New Bethal Church. Singing, dancing and fellowshipping with others brought her much joy. She also loved gardening, planting flowers, shopping and cooking for others. She was an awesome cook. People loved to come to her home and eat. She also loved to entertain in her home.
When Bernice was not cooking for her family and friends, gardening, entertaining or shopping she was working. Bernice was a hard worker. She started working at a young age. She was a factory worker and worked at Cleveland Clinic for some time. Bernice retired from Parker Hannifin in 1997.
Bernice was also a fashionista of her own style! She was unapologetically sharp! Many people tried to imitate her style. Beyond her fashion she loved sports, basketball and football.
Bernice loved her family dearly those near and far. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother Bernice was a loving and nurturing presence to her family or as she would say “my children’s”. She leaves behind Charles Green (son), Grandchildren Tony and Cherron (Romero Sr.), Great grandchildren Jasmine, Chemero (Donterio Sr.), Romero Jr. Great- Great grandchildren Zacari, Jela-Necole, Zephaniah, Naziah, Daniel-Lee, Donterio Jr. and Donero
Bernice was the last surviving sibling of ten. Sylvester Rice, Leroy Rice, John E. Rice, Robert Walter, Annie Gouch, Hazel Gouch, Jeanett Hatche, Leonard Rice and Charlie Rice. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
Bernice Life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of faith and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her most.
