Bernice P. Broadnax-Jolly was born July 5, 1944, in Columbus Ga. to the late parents of Ellis and Lillie Broadnax. Bernice was the second child survived by three siblings, Lillian Smith, Gregory Broadnax (Doris) and Marjorie Carruthers. Bernice Broadnax-Jolly was called home Friday, August 2, 2024, at 9:40 pm at Ahuja Hospital in Beachwood, Ohio
Bernice early childhood was spent in Barnabus, West Virginia in Logan County before moving to Cleveland, Ohio in 1955. Bernice was a cheer leader while attending Cleveland Public Schools graduating from Glenville High School. She also attended Tri-C Metro Campus obtaining an associate in applied business.
Bernice was raised in church believing in the birth, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. She was baptized at Mt Vernon Baptist Church and sang in various Mass Choirs in Cleveland, Ohio
Bernice work at Antenna Specialist, American Greeting and worked over 35 years at the United States Postal Service. Some of her hobbies were bowling, which she entered numerous competitions, dancing singing, reading, and listening to jazz.
Bernice met Norman C. Jolly while working at Antenna Specialist and they got married and stayed married for 27 years.
Although Bernice was a stern, and a no-nonsense type of person, she was humorous and instilled values in her children such as respect, mostly for our elders. She was loving and always there for her children when they needed her; as well as being the caregiver to her mother.
Bernice Patricia Broadnax-Jolly leaves to cherish her memories to her children Terri Broadnax-Simpson (LaBaron), Samuel Broadnax (Zakiyyah), Dave Broadnax, Jermaine Broadnax (Winifred) deceased, and Tamika Jolly. Grandchildren Jovan Wilson, Tiara Garrett, Isaiah Hooks, LaVall Broadnax, and Ky’kia Moore-Broadnax. Nieces and Nephew: Tammy Quitman (Carl), Keith Smith, Angela Smith, Diamond Smith, Ebony Smith, Myah Redmond, Laterra Broadnax, Tiyana Sharp, and Christian Broadnax. Three great grandchildren: Matthew Turnage, Ty Turnage, Zuri Sua, and a host of other family and friends.
