Betty Curry, age 81 of Mobile Alabama, peacefully passed away on December 24, 2023 in Highland Hts. Ohio. She was born July 2, 1942, to Lovean Taite and Elijah Bishop. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Vernell Nelson, Son Lorenzo West and her siblings William Bishop, Willie Bishop, Elnora Collins, and Sarah Hamilton.

Betty is survived by her brother Roosevelt Bishop, her sister’s Legertha Padgette and Eva Evans, Her Son Jerome Taite, Her daughters Geraldine Robinson (Gerri), Lora Allen, and Burnictrics West (Bonnie), as well as six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and host of great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Betty had a fulfilling career as a retired correctional officer. She dedicated herself to maintaining order and safety within the correctional system.

Outside her professional life, Betty had a wide range of hobbies that brought her joy, she was passionate about cooking, travel, fishing, gambling, and basketball.

These activities allowed her to explore her creative side and connect with her loved ones.

During this difficult time, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be shared through thoughts, prayers, and cherished memories.

Betty will be forever remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, family member, friend and someone who found joy in life pleasures.
