My name is Betty Joe Daniels, though many know me simply as “BJ.”
I was born on June 4, 1945, in Jackson, Tennessee, to Percy and Cleora Reid. I was the fourth oldest of my siblings: John, Lee Andrew, Emma, Parker, Edna, Annie Pearl, Gladys, and Marilyn. Our home was filled with Southern love, good food, strong faith, and the strength to endure.

I graduated from West High School of Jackson, Tennessee, where I found my early love for music, friendship, and leadership. Shortly after, at the age of 18, I made my way to Ohio. It was there that my life truly began to bloom. I became a mother, Ricky, Ronnie, Raymond, and Roshell were my heartbeats. Raising my children taught me patience, resilience, and the power of unconditional love.

In time, God brought Clarence P. Daniels, a.k.a. “Husband,” into my life. We didn’t just fall in love, we built something lasting. Together, we shared decades filled with faith, family, laughter, and of course, music. Oh, how we loved to sing together, whether it was in the church or the kitchen.

Music was the melody of my journey. I was proud to be a part of so many blessed musical and prayer ministries:
The Angelic Voices, Painesville Mass Choir, Painesville Prayer Warriors, Power Lights, Unity of Love Ministries, and the beloved Heavenly Seven Promoters Ministry. In every note I sang and every prayer I lifted, I hoped to bring healing, encouragement, and joy to others. Worship wasn’t just something I did, it was who I was.

For over 62 years, Calvary CME Church was my spiritual home. I served wherever I was needed feeding the hungry, singing praises, planning programs, and welcoming others with open arms. The church community was my family, and I gave them all the love I had.

If you didn’t see me at church, you might’ve found me serving at the food pantry, at a choir rehearsal, or maybe shopping for a new plant or rug to freshen up the house. I had a thing for making spaces warm and welcoming, because I believed everyone deserved to feel at home. And my home, well… it was open to many. Whether you were family by blood or by heart, my door, and my stove were always on.

I’ve lived through love, loss, laughter, and many lessons. I’ve been blessed with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a lifetime of memories. I’m grateful for every hug, every meal shared, every hymn sung, every intercessory prayer, and every life I touched.

I’ve been reunited now with my parents, Percy and Cleora; my brothers, John, Lee Andrew, and Parker; my sister, Pearl; and my beloved sons, Ricky and Ronnie.

I leave behind my husband, Clarence; my children, Raymond, Roshell, and Rasayln; my sisters, Emma (Sherman) Blair, Gladys Forrest, Edna (Grady) Hunt, and Marilyn (Willie) Harris; and all of you, my grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, church members, choir friends, and dear neighbors.

I hope my life reminded you to love big, serve faithfully, sing with your soul, and never stop praying.

And if you remember nothing else I’ve said, remember this:

“Be good, and don’t forget to pray.”

Love u mama fa eva I miss you so much and I can't stomach this pain but I know you're not suffering no more but I know there are going to be times where I'm going to want to call you not call you so my mind but I know that you say all are used to say all the time don't forget to pray mama so Grandma mama I won't ever forget to pray and I love you so much and rest in heaven

Our deepest condolences to the Daniels family at this time. A beautiful flower and soul is now in God’s heavenly garden. May He continue to comfort and keep you family until the great “reunion” when we all are with them in paradise.

Dang BJ!!! This right here hurts! You were an amazing woman. I learned so much from you and you always gave the best advice! I remember visiting you every morning when I walked the dog, your makeup, your jewelry, your love for papa and your grandchildren. Your voice!!! Your TV shows, ice road truckers and your gospel music videos..your dedication to the foodbank and making sure everyone had food. You always had something funny or sarcastic to say and you pulled no punches lol. Im glad you are finally at peace you fought long and hard. You were one of the good people on this earth amd you will truly be missed by all. I remember how you used to redecorate the living room, green,blue, purple. You had everything in every color, even your flowers were bright and beautifuljusy like you. A true gem! My condolences to your family...🌻🤲🏾🤲🏾🧕🏾💜 you were a true sunflower.
