Betty Jones was born on October 3, 1935 to the late Rosa Cuspart and Lovett Hardaway in Birmingham, Alabama, and was a long time resident of Akron, Ohio. She was raised by Beatrice Scarbrough.

Betty Hardaway and Sylvester Jones were joined in holy matrimony and remained devoted to each other until his untimely death. Mrs. Jones lived a full life and stood strong and firm during the storms of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Betty departed this earth’s sorrows to rest in Heaven’s glory on September 1, 2023 at Continuing Health Care after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosa and Lovett Hardaway; husband, Sylvester Jones; siblings Virginia Frederick, William Cuspart and Ida McGhee and grandson, Derrick “Butch” Palmer.

She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Demetrius (Marie) Hardaway and Derrick (Debbie) Jones; daughters, Shell (Walter) Small Jr., Laverne (Greg) Wilson, all of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Demetrius (Marquita) Jones, Raphael Oliver, Isaac Palmer, Quiana (Dwight) Shade, Dyamond Henderson, Terace Jones, Michalene Kelker, Shannon Hardin, and Dorothy (Adam) Sylvester, all of Akron, Ohio and Johnathan Jones of Paducah, Kentucky; special uncle, Milton Hardaway; special cousin, Paulette (Marcus) Moore; 27 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
