Betty Lou Manson transitioned to her heavenly home on August 11, 2022. She was born on August 20, 1938, in Sparta, GA to the late Garfield and Pinky Hunt.
Betty married John Henry Manson, Sr. in 1959 in Milledgeville, GA, and from this union, five children were born. She and her family moved from Georgia to Akron, OH in 1971. She was employed at Akron Children’s Hospital until she retired in 1998.
Betty was a sweet and loving woman known for her soulful cooking, warm embraces, thoughtfulness, and words of wisdom. She loved every person she crossed paths with, and Betty didn’t meet any strangers. One of her favorite things to do was read. She read everything. Even with an 8th-grade education, Betty was an avid reader and made sure her children could read. She also had a green thumb. She loved planting flowers and won numerous beautification awards for her flower displays in her yard each year.
Although she had advanced dementia, the disease never had her. Showing her big smile, Betty was always the life of the party. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and if the music was playing, she’d dance her heart out clapping her hands and patting her feet. Known as “Beboe” to her boys, Betty would always point her finger and say, “I know Jesus, He’s my friend.”
