Beverly Joann Harkness (Mama) left this Earth peacefully in Akron, OH on June 10, 2020. She was born on September 27, 1943, in Barberton, OH to the late Edward & Jessie Palmer.  She was the oldest of 4 children. From a very young age, she loved helping and caring for others. While still in high school, she helped her dad care for her younger siblings after her mother’s passing.

She worked at Barefoot Sole and as a bartender in Barberton, OH. The bartending job was short-lived because a man who would later become her husband began to mess up her tips, as she would say, by frequently visiting her during her shift. She later went on to work at Akron General Hospital and retired after 30 years of service.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She had a passion for baking, cooking, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Harkness Sr.; daughter, Terri Murphy; brothers, Harold and Donald Palmer.

Beverly will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, James Harkness (Sarah), Christopher Palmer; brother, David Palmer; sister, Linda Palmer; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
