Billy Ray Jones “BJ” was born January 7, 1991, in Seoul, South Korea to Sonya M. Jones. BJ was Sonya’s ONLY child.
BJ accepted Christ at the age of twelve years old and joined the Daniel Circle Chapel, Fort Jackson, South Carolina There he sang in the choir and was actively involved in the youth group. He also attended Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church, where he sang in the youth choir and was highly active in all activities at Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church. Living the life of a military child while traveling to various countries with his mom, places such as Seoul, South Korea, Fort Lee, Virginia, Fort Lewis, Washington, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Cincinnati and Cleveland, Ohio and Atlanta, Georgia, his commitment to family and religion kept him actively involved in the church. BJ’s infectious smile and laughter brought so much joy to all those he met, making a positive impression and admiration of love from them.
On May 3, 2023, BJ left this world too soon and he is dearly missed but resting well.
Preceding him in death, BJ had a Loving and Caring Grandmother Mary B. Jones and Great Grandmother, Annie Jones whom he truly adored. They are now back together again. His Great Aunts Mildred Bryant, Blanche Roberts and Dorothy “Dot” Reese, Great Uncles Andrew Jones, Nathaniel “Nate” Jones, Johnnie Jones, and Wille “Fathead” Jones.
BJ leaves to cherish his memories, his Loving and Devoted mother Sonya M. Jones; a very caring grandfather Isaac “Ike” Jones Jr., two loving and beautiful Aunt’s, Sheila A. Slaughter “James”, Angela R. Wheeler “Marion Jr.”, all of Cleveland, Ohio; one extremely special and close Cousin/Brother Marion G. Wheeler III “Dramelle”; Great Aunts Mamie Miles, Bernice “Tiny” Glenn, of Cleveland, Ohio, Lil Slaughter, Fannie Tolliver of West Virginia; Great Uncles, Robert Young of Detroit, Michigan, Robert “Theresa”, Jimmie and David of Cleveland, Ohio; God Grandmother Sadie Childs of Cleveland, Ohio; God Mother Jocelyn “Thomas” Slaughter of Simpsonville, South Carolina, God Sister Lauryn Longworth of Georgia, and many cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
