Bobbie Jean Jeter was on born April 16, 1936 in Varner, Arkansas to Frank and Charlie Spencer.
She attended Saint Mary’s Catholic School in Pinebluff, Arkansas. Bobbie loved sports. While a student in school, she played point guard position on the basketball team. In 1954, she moved to Akron, Ohio where she was a lifelong resident along with her three children, Valerie, Victor, and Denise.
Bobbie was employed at Brecksville Veterans Hospital for 20 years. She retired from Summa Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital after 26 years of service as supervisor in the food service department. In her spare time, she could be found going to the racetrack and traveling. She enjoyed traveling to various places like California, Arkansas, Louisiana, and going on cruises.
She was a dedicated member of United Baptist Church for over 30 years, as well as Mount Lebanon Baptist Church for over 20 years.
Bobbie, affectionately known as “Granny Bobbie”, loved spending time with her family, especially around the holidays. She loved cooking big meals for her family and creating memories. Her grandkids loved her soulful cooking and enjoyed hearing their “Granny Bobbie” call them “Darlin’s”.
She never met a stranger. She enjoyed meeting and conversing with people and giving advice. She was always truthful and was never afraid to express her opinion.
Bobbie was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Charlie Spencer; son, Victor Jerome Jeter; sister, Alice Faye Small; and grandson, Marlin Jerome Cox.
She leaves to celebrate her life, daughter and devoted caregiver, Valerie (Darryl Sr.) Cox, and youngest daughter Denise (John) King. She also leaves grandsons, Darryl Jr. (La Toya) Cox and Brandon King; great-grandchildren, Porsha, Marilynne, McKenzie, Daylon, Vivan, and Lyric; great-great grandchildren Journi and Jace; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
