Booker T. Logan, affectionately known as “T” by his family, was born August 22, 1934 in Hayneville (Lowndes County), Alabama to Sagola (Barlow) and Richard Logan. He was the third child. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Logan, and sister, Gillie B. Lofton.
He was an inquisitive young boy. His mother would always say, “T” wasn’t a bad boy, just a little mischievous. He discovered his entrepreneurial skills at a young age, selling half of a cookie for a penny. After his family, along with his pet goat, moved to Montgomery, he enjoyed his young life playing with his uncles and young cousins and visiting his grandparents on the farm during the summer.
Times were hard and, as he approached his teen years, he wanted a better life. So, at the age of 17, he joined the United States Air Force where he spent most of his time in Germany and France.
Shortly after the military, he met the love of his life, Reacia Nell Blake. He knew she was the one and on September 7, 1956, they were married. Later that year, Booker headed to Cleveland to join his brother, Richard, and soon after, he sent for his family. The move was tough but his hard work paid off. He worked for Topps and its many subsidiaries until he retired. He also had his own landscaping business for many years. He was a taxi driver for Yellow Cab Company, a clothing salesman, and a cook for Hot Sauce Williams Restaurant. He continued his education and became an electrician’s apprentice. He also began to explore the real estate business.
Booker always wanted the best for his family. He provided them with a good life, both materially and most importantly spiritually. In the summer of 1970, he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He loved God and loved talking to people about the Bible and the hope that was deeply rooted in him. He served for many years as an elder in the Monticello Congregation and later the Wilson Mills Congregation. Through the years he devoted countless hours as an auxiliary pioneer helping others to learn about the Bible.
Dad was a man of few words, but when he spoke, the depth of his wisdom and insight was powerful.
He is survived by his loving wife, Reacia N., daughters Sharon, Marsha, Marla, Vickie (Vincent), Angeli(Wellington and son Christopher (Carmen); grandchildren Teran, Timothy, Dominique, Desmond, Florian, Ashley (Eric), Brooklin and Kai; great grandchildren Khire, Taylor, August, Deoni, Teran Jr., Denver, Aris, April, Autumn and Amir.
