Booker T. Yarbrough, Jr., was born in Derby, Virginia to the union of Booker T. Yarbrough, Sr. and Ollie Mae Neely.
The family relocated from Virginia to Cleveland, Ohio in the early fifties. Booker attended the Cleveland Public School system and graduated from Glenville High School in 1961. After graduating from Glenville High School, he attended Ohio Technical College where he received an Electrical Technician Certificate. He was employed by General Motors and Chrysler Corporations. He retired from Chrysler Corporation after 46 years of service as an Electrical Inspector. He was a dedicated and dependable employee.
Booker accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was baptized by the late Rev. Harold W. Luter, Sr. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Cleveland, Ohio.
He was married twice and the father of four children and grandfather of one.
He was warmhearted, kind and generous to a fault. He loved to help those in need. He was quiet yet full of life and was active until his health began to fail.
He was a die-hard Cleveland Sports fan and had a musical interest in playing the trumpet and saxophone with his late friend Joe DeJarnette.
He was a barbeque connoisseur so much so that he won the 2nd place amateur’s division trophy at the 4th Annual Plain Dealer Newspaper’s Barbeque Rib Burn Off held in Downtown Cleveland, Ohio on Mall C in the 1980’s.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his cousins as well as family travels to Alabama and Virginia.
Booker was preceded in death by his parents Booker T. and Ollie Mae Yarbrough Sr., one sister Frances and one brother Willie James Yarbrough. He leaves to cherish his memory, two (2) daughters, Catherine (Lawrence) Taylor, Eonna Crumbley; sons, Kristian B. and Cameron B. Yarbrough; one grandson. Brandon J.Taylor; three (3) sisters Mary Ellen Yarbrough, Norma Yarbrough Green, and Ethel Yarbrough Montgomery; one (1) brother Eddie C. Yarbrough; one (1) uncle Johnny B. Yarbrough, Sr. and one (1) aunt Mary Yarbrough; one (1) special nephew Jerry Montgomery, Jr. as well as other extended family and friends.
Booker will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
