Born on October 6, 1956, to Evelyn Chrisp and Joeseph Baker in Gary, Indiana, Brenda Lashall was the fourth child of 10. She attended Elementary School with classmate Marlon Jackson of the infamous Jackson 5. Her memory of him was that he was quiet. She grew up as a devoted member of Open Door Church of God in Christ. In the spring of 1975, she graduated from Roosevelt High School just moments away from 2300 Jackson Street. She attended Indiana University then later Cuyahoga County Community College when she moved to Cleveland, Ohio with her sisters. She majored in clerical studies. Employed at University Hospitals for 40 years, she began a successful career in data entry operations. She later married, and became mom to Jennifer Lareese. Always with the spirit of determination and a will to enjoy life, she was a go getter, proud to acquire knowledge of things that she enjoyed, and not afraid to share that knowledge.
For years she traveled with her late husband and partner, James A. Moore, around the world. Among her hobbies, she loved to view homes and home remodeling. Line dancing and yard work were also among her favorite past times. She enjoyed basketball, in particular Lebron James (despite the team that he played for). And she absolutely loved testing fragrances and perfumes. It was a challenge for her to resist any spray counter in department stores.
Brenda was always helpful and friendly. She had the ability to get along with anyone. She was a true lady with a very bright spirit. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten by her friends and family.
She has flown ahead of her daughter Jennifer Gulley; sisters Erma Jean, Alma Rose, and Annette; brothers Ronnie (Ricky), Fred, and Floyd; nieces Tamika, Lashwanda, Elbony, Tya, Elenor, Eria, and Erica; nephews Randy, Courtney, Ricky Jr., Isaiah, Ryan, and Omar; and many grand nieces and nephews.
