It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Brent Louis Fontenette, who departed this life on June 19, 2026, at the age of 65.

Born on October 16, 1960, Brent Louis Fontenette was lovingly raised by his devoted mother, Margaret Watts, in Cleveland, Ohio. From an early age, she instilled in him the values of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance, encouraging him to use his natural talent for building and creating as the foundation for a successful future.

Brent attended Cleveland Heights High School before taking a brief break from his education. Determined to accomplish his goals, he later returned to earn his GED, demonstrating the persistence and dedication that would define his life. In his later years, he enrolled at Cleveland State University, pursuing a degree in engineering. Although declining health prevented him from completing his studies, his desire to continue learning and challenging himself never wavered.

As a teenager, Brent made a promise to his mother that he would maintain good grades and use his talents to build a productive future. True to his word, he matured into a responsible and ambitious young man. Honoring her own promise, Margaret rewarded him with a gift he would always treasure—his first car, a 1969 LeMans Blue Chevrolet Camaro with a white leather interior. Brent took exceptional pride in caring for the vehicle, keeping it meticulously clean, waxed, and well-maintained. He was equally proud when he purchased his first motorcycle, a Kawasaki, using money he had earned from a summer job. Brent always felt deeply loved and appreciated the many sacrifices his mother made to ensure he had opportunities to pursue the things that brought him joy.

Throughout his career, Brent developed a strong work ethic and earned the respect of those around him. He worked as a limousine driver for a prominent and affluent family in New York for more than six years. Later, he returned to Cleveland and began working as a machinist and served primarily in the computer industry with Xerox. Brent went on to retire after many years of dedicated service. His commitment to excellence, reliability, and professionalism was evident in every role he held.

Outside of work, Brent found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He was a devoted fan of his hometown Cleveland Browns and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite football team. Whether watching from the comfort of his home or imagining himself among the fans in the stadium, his passion for the Browns was unmistakable.

Above all else, Brent cherished his family. His love, guidance, and presence will forever remain in the hearts of all those who loved him.

On June 19, 2026, Brent peacefully entered eternal rest. His passing occurred on Juneteenth, the National Independence Day commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. As his family reflects on this meaningful day, they find comfort in knowing that Brent’s own chains have been broken. He now rejoices while, resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord, freeing him from pain and suffering.

Though he is deeply missed, Brent’s legacy of determination, resilience, love, and perseverance will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, Brent. You are gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
