Cameron DeJon DuVall, affectionately known as “Cam,” was born on March 29, 1997, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Anthony and Letitia (Scott) DuVall. He was raised in Northfield, Ohio, where he developed a love for sports, community, and service that would shape the course of his life.

Cameron attended Nordonia High School, proudly cheering on the Knights. A dedicated athlete, he wrestled competitively and remained active in community sports and youth activities. During his upperclassman years, he discovered his calling to serve others. While still in high school, Cameron enrolled in the Fire & EMS Academy at Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, graduating from Nordonia High School in May 2015.

Committed to pursuing his passion, Cameron continued his education at the Cuyahoga Community College Fire Training Academy, completing Firefighter I and II training in June 2016. In April 2018, he began his career as a full-time firefighter with the East Cleveland Fire Department, where he embraced the culture, camaraderie, and lifelong brotherhood of the fire service. He would later join the Highland Hills Fire Department, continuing to grow both personally and professionally.

Always striving to better serve his community, Cameron earned his Paramedic certification in June 2020. Soon after, he began serving as a Firefighter-Paramedic with University Hospitals Medical Center in Highland Hills, where he put his advanced skills and compassionate heart into practice every day.

Although Cameron achieved many personal and professional milestones, one of his proudest accomplishments came in August 2022 when he accepted a full-time position with the North Randall Fire Department. Serving the community where his mother was raised and where his grandparents once lived made the opportunity especially meaningful. Cameron was immensely proud to wear the North Randall uniform and serve alongside the dedicated men and women of Ladder 7, a crew he considered his second family and forever home.

Outside of his career, Cameron found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, golfing, snowboarding, and riding motorcycles. He was equally at home on the water, whether swimming or spending long summer days at the lake with friends. Cameron also enjoyed traveling and rarely missed an opportunity to create lasting memories with his family and those closest to him.

Never one to stop serving others, Cameron also enjoyed working part-time with Always Towing, where he found another meaningful way to assist motorists in need. Whether responding to emergencies as a firefighter-paramedic or helping someone stranded on the roadside, he took pride in being there for others and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Cameron’s legacy is one of courage, compassion, selfless service, and unwavering dedication to others. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, infectious smile, and the lasting impact he made on his family, friends, fellow firefighters, and the communities he proudly served.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving parents, Anthony and Letitia DuVall; his sister, Aja Dyrlund (DuVall); his brother, Tyriq DuVall; his brother-in-law, London Dyrlund; his beloved niece, Noriani Dyrlund; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, friends, and brothers and sisters in the fire service, all of whom will forever hold him close in their hearts.
