Carlos Orlando Grandison, age 60, was called home on June 29, 2024.
Carlos was born in Akron, Ohio to the late Richard Grandison Jr. and Mary Lee Grandison. Carlos attended John R. Buchtel High School. He later moved to Pensacola, Florida for a a short period before moving back to Akron permanently.
Carlos was a loving son, father, uncle, and friend. He was often referred to as the “fun uncle.” He could be found planning surprise trips to amusement parks and trying to teach the younger kids in the family how to roller skate backwards. You might also find him working on one of his many vehicles, with the kids gathered around watching him, and him sometimes allowing them to help. He always had the latest tape or cd that you could borrow to stay up on the most current music artists.
In recent years, as his nieces had sons of their own, he would often buy them treats from the ice cream truck and supply them with pops and sweets with no questions asked. This allowed him to hold on to his “fun uncle” title with the next generation of nephews.
Carlos was also known to enjoy a good cook-out and would often be the one firing up the grill. This was one of the many ways he would spend time with his friends and family. He would often be quiet and smiling, just soaking in the company around him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Grandison Jr.; mother, Mary Lee Grandison; brothers; Richard Maverick Grandison and Stanley B. Grandison; sister, Eldora L. Grandison-Martinez; and son, Jeffrey Davis.
Carlos is survived by sons, Carlos Grandison Jr., Darrel Grandison, Abraham Grandison, Keith Davis, and Spencer Grandison; daughter, Mary Grandison; nieces, Eldora Grandison and Princess Grandison; nephews, Richard M. Grandison III and Seneca McGowan; as well as a host of family and friends.
