Carmen Shavonne Harris was born on September 30, 1972 in Akron, Ohio, and gained her heavenly wings on May 22, 2019. Carmen obtained an Associates of Applied Science from Stark State College, and was last employed at Summa Health System.
Her religion was very important in her life and she loved the Lord. She was a proud member of the United Baptist Church. She was a very outgoing young woman that put her all into everything she did. She was always concerned about other people’s well-being and put others before herself. She had a love for teddy bears and collected them since she was a child. She was a loving and proud mother, auntie, daughter, sister, and friend. She thoroughly enjoyed all encounters with her family. Her vibrant spirit rubbed off on everyone she encountered. If you had a friend in Carmen, you had a friend indeed.
Carmen was preceded in death by grandparents, William and Ruth Green, Herdi and Dorothy Christian, Severna Harris, Aunts and Uncles, Helen Stephens, Magdalene Ivory, Lillie Dutch, and William Green, sibling, Shanay Knox. Here to cherish her memory are: parents, Sheba Harris, Clarence Harris, father, Donnie (Becky) Christian, and her “dad”, Bernard Harmon; Son, Caleb Mauzy, siblings: Carla Harris and Latonya Lewis, Donika, Donnie, Love, Martina, Decarla and Taymier; nieces: Amber Alexander, Sharea Gooden; nephews: Miles Carlisle, Lonnie Wilborn and Michael Lewis; aunts and uncles, Naomi Larson, Grace Sewell, Gloria (Calvin) Davis, Eleanor (Bobby) Gore, and Charles Stephens; fiancé, Kevin Rice, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends, and prayer warriors.
The family would like to extend their appreciation for the care and comfort given to Carmen during her journey. Special thanks to the staff at the Cooper Cancer Center, her dedicated team of physicians at University Hospitals and Akron City Hospital, the Summa at Home Health Care team and the Summa Hospice Blue team for their kind treatment, immediate responses and patience throughout our journey. Thank you to those who continued to be part of her prayer circle across denominations and the country. This road would have been unbearable without you. Thank you also to those who provided comfort, care and nourishment to the family during this difficult transition period. Words can not express how much it has been appreciated. Thank you all so much.
