Carol Asberry, affectionately known as “Lil Momma“ was born on April 2, 1962 to James and Julia Mae Asberry in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the sister of fifteen siblings.
Carol was educated in the Cleveland Public School System, graduating from Woodland Job Training Center. She worked for the Catholic Parish School System as a Lunch Aide and the City of Cleveland as a School Crossing Guard, until her health began to fail her.
While Carol did not have children of her own, she was instrumental in rearing her nieces and nephews, along with her two special twin cousins. She enjoyed shopping, bingo, casino outings in the use of “colorful” metaphors, in a loving way – to her family. Carol also had a love for cooking and acted as a neighborhood watch while sitting on the front porch, with her radio beside her. She was known to talk on the phone all day, laughing and joking with her nieces, nephews, family and friends.
On Sunday, May 3, 2020, Carol Asberry departed her earthly life at home, surrounded by her loving family; transitioning peacefully to her heavenly home. Carol leaves to cherish many fond memories-siblings, Carolyn Smith, Walter, Patricia Moore (Montgomery, AL.), Melvin Brinson (Sandra), Tanya Brinson, Belinda, Kelvin (Falisa), Darrell (Sheila), Darlene and Tyrone. (1) Aunt, Mary L. Cameron, all of Cleveland, OH., (1) Uncle, W. C Williams (Montgomery, AL), along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding her and death were her parents -James and Julia Asberry, Grandmothers – Sarah Brinson Dabney and Susie Asberry, along with siblings Rosemary, James Albert, James, Sylvester and Lawrence.
