Carrie B. McHargh, 91, peacefully passed on to be with the Lord on September 1, 2018. She was born March 16, 1927, in Burnt Corn, Alabama to Pauline Watson and Handy McWilliams, both of whom preceded her in death.
Carrie and her sister, Handie, were raised by their grandparents; Charles & Belle McWilliams, after leaving Alabama for Barberton, Ohio, she accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Carrie graduated from Barberton High School where she had met the love of her life, Winston McHargh; whom she married. They remained together for 70 years until his passing in 2013. After raising her family, she went to work at Kent State University and retired after 20 years.
Carrie was preceded in death by a special cousin, Ruby Bland and special friend, Elinor Glover.
She is survived by her children, Winston Jr. (Connie), Phyllis Hughley, Kenneth (Helen), Gloria (William) Beard, Leondro (Valerie) and Carlton (Kagendo); along with 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary L. Tucker and Ruth (Clarence) Reed; brothers, Roland (Avelyn) Marshall, Willie Marshall and Charles ( Mary) McWilliams; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and special cousin, Nannie Broaddus; sister-in-law, Pearl Parchment; other family, friends and special friend, Vashti Bowers.
