Chanelle Marissa “Rissa” Wright was born to Gay Newton (Cain) and Robert R. Wright on January 23, 1993 in Pensacola, Florida. Rissa gave her life to Jesus Christ in 2000. In her youth, she was a cheerleader, volleyball player, tennis player for Euclid Central Middle School, and played clarinet for Euclid High School band. She excelled academically and graduated from Euclid High School in 2011. She later completed her phlebotomy certification at Cuyahoga Community College in 2016. She met her life partner, Lamar Commons, in high school and they were companions until her death. Rissa and Lamar were deeply devoted to each other; they shared a love for their cats, Candle and Nikki. Most people will describe Rissa in favorable terms such as funny, witty, intelligent, smart, courageous, brave, kind, and generous. Her smile would put one on your face too! She was optimistic though all of her medical journeys. She departed this life unexpectedly on November 17, 2024 after a lengthy hospital stay.
Rissa’s beautiful spirit will truly be missed in this world. She is survived by her life partner, Lamar Commons, her mother, Gay Cain, her fathers, Robert R. Wright and Demetrius A. Cain Sr., her brother, Garjon “Alex” Reddick. Her aunts and uncles: Betty Jean (Charles) Roberts, Ronald (Elina) Newton, Randy (Sharon) Newton, Maxine (Anthony) Jenkins, Dianne Hill, Kathleen Newton, and Norman (Michelle) Newton. A host of cousins, other relatives, many friends, and her cats.
