Charles B. Stallworth, 84, of Akron, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Monday February 13, 2023, after a short illness.
Charles was born in Beatrice, Alabama. He was the oldest of two children born to Matthew L. Stallworth and Ibevia Stallworth. Charles graduated from Buchtel High School in 1957, and later joined the United States Army Air Born unit.
Charles was employed by Firestone Rubber Company for 35+ years where he helped to design and develop racing tires for the company. He enjoyed remodeling. If he had an idea and the tools, it became a reality. He enjoyed watching the development of his property and loved to cook on the grill and entertain friends and family, any chance he could, whether he knew you as a friend or just met you. If you needed a dollar or a meal, he would share whatever he had, right down to his last 2 eggs in the “fridge.”
He believed in encouraging the youth, in reaching for their dreams. He would coach or mentor them to help perfect that special skill, to give them what they needed to obtain their goals. Every man has a dream for his son, but very few have the opportunity to see their sons reach it.
He loved to spend time with his sons, Aubray and Teon, and his nephew, Curtis Lewis, to teach them new skills whether it was cooking a new way on the grill or perfecting a side dish. He felt the need to pass on the knowledge so his legacy and memories would continue on.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew L. Stallworth and Ibevia Stallworth, along with his sister, Doretha (Stallworth) Lewis; nephews, Darryl C. Lewis and Charles N. Lewis.
He leaves to honor the memory of his life, sons, Aubray D. (Yukeana) Stallworth and Teon L. Stallworth; step-son, John (Janet) McCombs; brother-in-law, Harold Lewis; nephew, Curtis Lewis; niece, Carla D. Kenner; special friend, Barbra J. Lee; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, along with other relatives, friends and neighbors.
