Charles Edward Moss was born, the fourth of eight children, into the union of the Reverend John L. and Cleo H. Moss on April 10, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was called home, to be with the Lord, in the early morning of October 15, 2024.
He was educated in the Cleveland Public School System and thoroughly enjoyed working with his hands and fixing things. Many of his drawings graced the walls of his parents’ home. Upon graduating from Glenville High School, Charles worked as a bicycle assembler, where he excelled.
Charles grew up in the church attending Sunday school and participating in various church activities.
Charles loved working in the church and served on the usher board for many years. Church was where Charles met the love of his life, Angela D. Anderson, whom he affectionately called “Sweetcakes”. Knowing it was God bringing them together, they married and were blessed to raise two daughters, Meghan and Joi.
Charles retired from the Cleveland Heights- University Heights Public School System after working many years as a cleaner where he ministered to students as well as staff.
One of the highlights of Charles’ life was his appointment to deacon. He proudly bore the title. Anyone who spoke with Charles for any length of time would hear about the goodness of God and His salvation. He ministered in the community and prayed for many.
He had a playful side and loved to laugh and tell jokes. Knowing how much bicycles meant to children, he would collect old ones, make the necessary repairs, and freely give them away.
Charles is preceded in death by his loving wife Angela, parents John L. and Cleo H. Moss, brothers John W. and Robert L. Moss, nieces Angela Y. and Roben J Moss.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Meghan E. Goode and Joi J. Moss of Cleveland, OH; brothers Albert B. Moss (Charlotte) of Southfield, MI, Henry L. Moss (Marie) of Chesapeake, VA; sisters Rosetta Sawyer (Daniel) of Hampton, VA, Janet M. Gordon of Lawrenceville, GA, Shirley A. Sudberry (Keith) of Cleveland, Ohio, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lovingly submitted, The Family
