Cheryl Lynn Hicks was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 16, 1970, to mother Shirley Jacobs. She was raised by her grandmother, Lillan Early, and grandfather, Maso Early. She grew up between West Virginia and California and graduated from Morris High School in 1988.

For a long time, she worked as a nurse taking care of the elderly and she loved everything about her job. On May 14, 1993, she married her life partner, Felton Hicks III, at the age of 23. Her favorite hobbies were reading her Bible and spending time with her family. Watching action-packed and scary movies was her favorite. She was a very loving person, and her smile could light up a room. She will forever be remembered for her loving heart.

She will be missed by husband, Felton Hicks III; children, Andrew Smith, Chadira Gibson, Rakeem Moore, Marlisa (Michael) Vargo , KaShawn Hicks, KaShay Hicks; grandchildren, Serenity Vargo, Micheal Vargo, Mai ’Ana Hicks, Cardae Bender and Khelani Bender; sisters-in-law, Bridgett (Cedric) Burroughs and Terrain Hicks; brother-in-law, Antonio (Kayla) Hutchins; mother, Shirley Jacobs; siblings: (sisters) Donna (Evan) Watson and Shantay (David) Watson; (brother) Larry (Tracy) Turnage; and a host of other extended family members and friends.
