On Friday, December 13, 2019, Chimene Wynn Brown peacefully transitioned home, after a valiant fight for her life.
Born in Massillon, Ohio on June 30, 1962, to the late Howard and Glorice (Blount) Brown, Chimene was a life resident of Akron, Ohio. She was educated in the Akron Public School System and was a proud graduate of John R. Buchtel High School, class of 1980. After high school, Chimene attended the University of Akron and majored in Criminal Justice Studies.
With a caregivers heart, Chimene was employed at area nursing homes as a Nurse’s Assistant. She was also employed at Akron General Hospital as a Surgical Tech for 13 years and, most recently, worked as a Daycare Teacher at Early Stages Learning Academy in Canton, Ohio.
Her mother, Glorice Brown, brought up her children to love God. As a child, Chimene attended Wesley Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Eugene Morgan. As an adult, when her health permitted, she attended The Word Church – Akron, where R. A. Vernon is Pastor. Chimene was beautiful inside and out; positive, friendly and looked for good in everyone. She enjoyed life, loved a good book to read, shopped till she dropped, knew all the places to go to find bargains and special unique gifts for others. She was known to be a high roller, expert at roller skating, had an eye for black art and an ear for smooth jazz. She loved to eat out and loved sweets. It was very important to her to address everyone by name. She valued people and made everyone feel important. She also loved spending time with family and close friends and was a supporter of breast and other cancer causes.
