Beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend Cladine (Cla) Bryant, age 94, departed this life Friday, July 31, 2020, in Akron, Ohio. Her final days were spent at home and the family was blessed to be able to spend time with her there.
Cladine was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Rev. David and Lillie Smith Caldwell on January 25, 1926. She attended South High School. She worked various jobs, retiring from Summit County Jobs & Family Services. She was a faithful member of New Trinity Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent. She was a member of the North Hill Neighborhood Club where she made lifelong friendships. Cladine enjoyed bowling, gardening, and baking her special sweet potato pies. She was known by others, to be honest, sometimes brutely so. She was always there for anyone that needed her and was the keeper of memories for the family and church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ricci Hampton; brothers, Al, Wentford, Elijah, and Foster Caldwell; sisters, Anna Pearl Carter, Roberta Jeffries, and Delores Dorsey; grandson Jermaine Weaver.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Caldwell of Conyers, Georgia; son Randy (Christine) Hampton of Akron; sister, Edith Graham and sister-in-law, Billie Caldwell both of Akron; special grandchildren, Benitra Hampton and Bruce Caldwell of Ellenwood, Georgia; grandchildren, Ronnie Weaver, JoQuita (Edward) Conner, Marcello Jackson;13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She loved her family dearly. Cladine has earned her angel wings and is smiling down on us with her son, parents, and siblings.
