Clara Beatrice Campbell was born on July 27th, 1950 in McCalla, Alabama to the late Nelson Campbell Sr. and Annie Elisa Campbell. Clara was delivered by a mid- wife in the house her father completed building two weeks prior. Clara was the youngest of six children, the family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in August of 1954. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Clara attended Outhwaite Elementary School, Kenard Middle School, and John Adams High School where she graduated in 1969.
Clara was the loving mother of three beautiful children that she loved and adored, she raised them as a single mom in Caver Park. Throughout their upbringing she instilled in them the lessons of life, to be strong, respectful, and self-sufficient. As she guided them, Clara did her best to protect her children from external dangers.
In the mid 80’S she obtained her medical and nursing assistance certificate, and worked in health care industry; Clara had a love for helping others. In the 90’s she changed careers, and worked with CMHA as a Progressive Action Council (PAC) Supervisor where she helped and guided others in finding their desired career paths. After years of hard work and dedication, Clara decided to retire in 2010.
Clara was well known for her infectious smile, and she was well known throughout the community for her backyard parties, and family gatherings, it was nothing for mama to pull the grill out and get down! As time went on Clara took up residency at a nursing home where she loved playing bingo, reading, hanging with friends, and most importantly watching Family feud.
Over the last couple of years Clara experienced declining health, she fought a good fight, but she succumb to her health issues. On July 11, 2023 the Lord called her home, as she transitioned, she was surrounded by her loving children who stood beside her.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, sister Evangelist Lillie Beckton, sister Annie Green, and brother Bobby Campbell. Clara leaves to mourn three children, Darnell Jerome Campbell, Timeko Schujuane Graves (Leon Graves), Nyree Ann Campbell, and step- daughter Angela Davis, Two siblings, Nelson Campbell Jr. and Mary Caver, Five Grandchildren: Albert Carlisle, Nelson Graves, Mario Benson, Kendrick Hosea- Campbell, and Nylisha Campbell, and three great grandchildren; Jayceon, Isaiah, and Dallas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
