Burial will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 9:30 am at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors to follow.

Clarence E. Dawson, Sr. age 67 transitioned peacefully at his home on October 11, 2018, after a long hard fought battle with COPD, and pulmonary hypertension lung disease.
Clarence was born in Akron, Ohio on September 26, 1951, to Cornelious and Mattie Dawson (both deceased). Clarence accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church where he served on the usher board until the time of illness.
Clarence attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from Buchtel High School in 1971. He also attended the University of Akron, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era and served in the National Guard.
He married Gloria Gilmore on July 16, 1977. They remained married for 41 years and raised three beautiful children.
Clarence had many, many jobs. He was very gifted at fixing things, especially electrical work. He retired from Maxion Wheels (formerly Hayes Lemmerz) in 2014. Clarence used to love to dress and won best dressed at West Jr. High School. He was a strong family man and loved spending time and entertaining family and friends. He was the president of the Dawson Family Reunion and he never forgot anyone’s birthday. Clarence is truly going to be missed by all of us. Rest In Peace hubby, dad, grandpa, brother, and uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelious and Mattie Dawson; sister, Gloria Williams; father and mother-in-law, George, Sr. and Lily Gilmore; brothers-in-law, Curtis Williams, David Clark, Josh Moss, George Gilmore, Jr., (Betty) and Stanley Gilmore.
Clarence leaves to cherish his memories wife Gloria Dawson; children, DeShawna Dawson, Clarence Dawson, Jr. and Deitra Taylor all of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Daijah Taylor, A’Maya Dawson, Jaylen Dawson and Jaidah Taylor; siblings Joyce Clark, Betty Moss, Benjamin (Jackie) Dawson of Phoenix, AZ, Lenwood (Diane) Dawson, James Dawson and Gladine Dawson; brother-in-law, Wesley (Estella) Gilmore of Los Angeles, CA; son-in-law, Vernon Taylor; daughter-in-law, Dana Dawson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
