Clarence Julius Reynolds Jr. – affectionately known as “Butchie” to family and friends. He was born on July 29, 1949, to the late Elizabeth O. Reynolds (Porter) and Clarence J. Reynolds Sr. He was a devoted husband to Mary Reynolds and a loving stepfather and grandfather.
Clarence moved with his parents from Muscle Shoals, Alabama to Cleveland, Ohio at the age of 2 years old. Clarence dedicated over 35 years to his career as an Electronics Engineer at Standard Oil and Ben Venue, where he retired. As a subject matter expert, he developed key operating and compliance procedures for his company. Despite his professional commitments, Clarence always prioritized family, hobbies, and passions. He loved fishing and boating with his family and enjoyed taking his family on road trips in his fully equipped van.
His passion for music led him to perform as “DJ Big C” and party promoting, where he met notable figures like George Clinton and Wanda Sykes. Even after retiring from DJing, he continued to entertain family and friends with his vast music selection at home.
Clarence was a family man, known for his integrity and generosity. As the family patriarch, he cherished taking care of those around him. His love for music, fishing, family time, and technology left a lasting mark on his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Mary Reynolds, his stepchildren Chandra (Robert) Bell, Jevon (Brianca) Wilson, and Charnese Wilson, his grandchildren Dinero, Anthony, Antonio, and Antwan. He was preceded in death by parents Clarence and Elizabeth Reynolds. He leaves to mourn his sisters; Barbara (Warnell Sr. deceased) Randall, Beverly (Samuel) Watkins, and sister-in-law Bonnie Worthy. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy Drapers, Lennis Reynolds, Michael (Katherine) Reynolds Sr., and his sister Tammy Reynolds.
He also leaves to cherish his memories, his nieces and nephews, who affectionately call him “Uncle Butchie”; Leandrese Cook, TaMika Reynolds, Angelic Adams, Juanita (Kenneth) Barnes, Donna Randall, Eric (Shawanda) Davis Sr., Leroy Cook Jr., Calvin (Chavauna) Cook Sr., Charles Durham Jr., and Michael Reynolds Jr., preceded in death by nephews Warnell Randall Jr. and Shawnell Randall. Clarence also had a host of great-nieces/nephews, cousins and a multitude of loved ones and friends.
