Clayton Lee Maye, 61, of Akron, Ohio, peacefully passed away on May 11, 2020. He was surrounded by his loving family, friends and caregivers during the last days of his life. Clayton was born February 14, 1959, in Cleveland, Ohio to Vinnie Ruth Maye and Walker Avery with his twin brother Clifford Maye. Clayton gave his life to the Lord at an early age. Every Sunday, at church, he and his brother sang for the congregation, in their younger years and they were very good at it! Their most requested song was the gospel “A Peace of Mind.” Clayton dedicated his entire working career in the manufacturing and production field as a machine operator where he met the love of his life, Debra Faye Owens. He then moved to Akron, Ohio to be with Debra for over 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, and playing chess. The O’Jays were his favorite artist. The Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Browns were his favorite teams and yes, Michael Jordan was his all-time favorite player. Clayton is survived by the love of his life, Debra Faye Owens of Akron, OH; brother, Clifford (Viola) Maye of Cleveland, OH; son, Kenyhette Owens of Akron, OH; son, Curtis (Chanell) Humphrey, Jr. of Akron, OH; son, Nykee (Deanna) Owens of Chicago, Il; daughter, Nykia (Eddie) Humphrey of Akron, OH; daughter, Latosha (Jarod) Olive-Stallings of Akron, OH; daughter, Jamie Owens of St. Louis, MO; niece, Aaliyah Maye-Parker and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends. Clayton was preceded in death by his mother, Vinnie Ruth Maye, and father, Walker Avery.
