Celebrating the Life of Clifford Charles Jefferson

On June 1, 1948, Clifford Charles Jefferson was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to the proud parents of William Robert Jefferson and Clara Edna Jefferson. Clifford was the youngest of eight children.

A lifelong student at the Cleveland Public School system, Clifford graduated from East Technical High School, home of the mighty Golden Scarabs.

After graduation, Clifford enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country.

Following his service in the Army, Clifford worked for Harshaw Chemicals, the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, and Tenable Protective Services, where he remained employed until his health declined.

Clifford had a great love for Jesus Christ and accepted Christ at an early age. His faith was immeasurable and remained a guiding light throughout his life.

In 1978, Clifford met Marsha Ann Miller. They were married on July 16, 1983, and together they raised a wonderful son, Derrick.

Clifford later joined St. Mark Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, under the leadership of the late Pastor Ernest Kelly, where he sang in the male chorus.

Clifford loved caps; you would never catch him without one on his head. He also loved sports and was a die-hard fan of all Cleveland teams.

Clifford also loved music, bowling, and, most of all, his family. With a host of nieces and nephews, he was affectionately called “Uncle Clifford.” In the late 1980s, Clifford was part of the Temple Baptist Church bowling league under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. A. E. Campbell Jr.

Clifford had a smile and laugh that God tailor-made just for him. His was a life well lived and a soul well loved.

Clifford was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha Jefferson; his son, Clifford Jefferson Jr.; his parents, William Robert and Clara Edna Jefferson; and his siblings, Clara Mae, Margaret Ann, Dovie Jefferson, Clayton Raymond, and William Victor Jefferson. Clifford leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Mark, Lathan, Brandon, and Derrick; his daughter-in-love, Kimberly of Dallas, Texas; two amazing sisters, Beverly Jean and Sharon Elizabeth; his sister-in-love, Juanita Harris; his brother-in-love, William “Billy” Miller; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
