With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate life and cherish the memory of Clifton Tyrone Tarrance Sr., who passed away on August 19, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with illness. Clifton was born on February 10, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a beacon of strength, humor, and love, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

As an active member of Christian Pentecostal Assembly, Clifton professed Christ and was baptized during his teenage years and sang with the Crusaders, a musical group that included his cousin and best friends, James, Morris, and Leroy. His remarkable voice and love for music brought joy to many. Clifton’s passion for music was rivalled only by his love of sports. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and Cleveland Cavaliers, faithfully supporting his hometown teams throughout his life.

Clifton was a proud graduate of Glenville High School, Class of 1973. Clifton also pursued studies in electrical courses at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C). He honorably served in the United States Army beginning on June 27, 1974, earning the National Defense Service Medal and recognition for his marksmanship with a rifle. Following his honorable discharge, Clifton carried the dedication and integrity he developed during his military service into his life.

Clifton’s professional journey reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. He worked as a skilled painter in the Maintenance Department at Warrensville Developmental Center, where he also proudly served as a union representative. Later, he became a steelworker at Midland Steel, dedicating numerous years of service before retiring in 2002. His colleagues remember him not only for his reliability and hard work but also for his infectious sense of humor.

Clifton was the beloved son of the late William McKinley Tarrance and Kathonia Mae Tarrance. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Benjamin Mealing, William McKinley Tarrance Jr., and Mary Elizabeth Bush.

Clifton’s life was a testament to the enduring power of faith, family, and strength. Through years of illness, numerous surgeries, and multiple amputations, he faced every challenge with remarkable courage and determination. Clifton was known for his quick wit, warm smile, and humorously sarcastic nature that brightened the lives of those around him. His presence brought laughter, comfort, and love to family gatherings and friendships alike. His passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Gail Tarrance, whom he married on February 4, 1978, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was his favorite. Together, they built a loving family and raised three wonderful children: Lucitta (Rawle), LaKesha (George Sr.), and Clifton Jr. (fiancée, Sarah). His cherished legacy lives on through his beloved grandchildren, George Jr., Immanuel, Tamia, Gabriel, JoEl, and Savannah. He is also survived by his loving sister, Ruby Lee Tarrance, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Clifton Tyrone Tarrance Sr. will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Though he has departed from this earthly life, his spirit, love, and treasured memories will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed by his presence.
