Clyde Bernard Carter passed away on May10, 2022, and is awaiting The Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Clyde is the son of the late Joseph L. Sr and Dorothy Goss Carter and was born on July 29, 1945 in Georgetown County, South Carolina.
He attended Deep Creek Elementary School and graduated from Choppee High School. Clyde was active in several community and church organizations/activities such as The Deep Creek Community annual fall festival and the Mount Olive SDA Church Missionary Youth Organization. Clyde was also a student bus driver for the Georgetown County School District, he was immensely proud which was evident by the bus jacket that he so proudly wore. Clyde approached this job, as well as any other job, duty, or service obligation with an attitude of diligence, persistence, and tenacity. This attitude and personal characteristic followed him throughout his life. Clyde was a compassionate and caring son, brother, father and friend.
In 1966, Clyde married the love of his life, the late Ruthell McGainey Carter, they moved to Cleveland, Ohio and were blessed with 2 sons: Darrel and Lutoni.
Once in Cleveland, Ohio, Clyde became a Pipe Fitter. He was employed by Columbia Gas and retired after 29 years of service. He also received an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Case Western Reserve University. Clyde had many businesses along his life’s journey which included: his own private investing company, CBC Distributing Co., CBC Facials and CBC Herbs Co. (Masonic sales).
Clyde was involved in the political scene and has held several offices within the Democratic party and helped numerous Representatives, judges, the Mayor’s County Council and the City Council candidates get elected.
Clyde was a once a Master Mason, Knight Templar, and Shriner, but once he realized his true calling, he gave all of that up and followed Jesus Christ totally as a Seventh Day Adventist. He and his wife Ruthell loved having people over for Sabbath dinner and always kept in touch with visitors and newcomers to the church. The house was always open to those who needed a meal or just a place to lay their head for a while. It was their special way to share the love of Christ.
Clyde is preceded in death by his wife Ruthell McGainey Carter and four of his brothers: Cornelius G. Carter Sr., Levoyde L. Carter Sr., Joseph L. Carter, Jr., Kendal O. Carter and Dwayne G. Carter Sr.
Clyde is survived by his children: Darrel Carter, Sr. (Dawn), LuToni Carter, Emilio Lee, and Roberto Lee, grandchildren Darrel Carter, Jr., Donte Carter, Keziah Lee, Amari Lee and Caleb Jeffrey; and special grandchildren Ella Alderman, and Emilia Alderman. His brothers James M. Carter (Margaret), and Mickey L. Carter (Nenita); and sisters Dorotheal C. Marsh (Arthur), Iris E. Carter, and Alveria J. Cooper and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
