Connie J. Young, a long-time resident of Akron, OH went home to the Lord on Thursday the 9th of January after a long illness.
She was born May 7th, 1950, in Raleigh, West Virginia. She received degrees from Lorain Community college and the University of Akron.
She worked many years in retail until she found her true passion for public speaking and motivational training. She started her own business CJ Young & Associates in the mid-80s.
She traveled the country speaking and motivating Fortune 500 companies to small local establishments alike until her retirement. In addition to that, she also started a youth motivation task force in the Akron Public School systems to help broaden career choices for students.
She had a passion for education and to educate others. She served on many boards for the local, state and national levels to give back to the community, which included the NAACP, Girl Scouts of America, United Way and American Diabetes Council, just to name a few.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Addie Vaughn, Sr.; and husband, Dallas Young, Sr.
She is survived by her son, Dallas Young Jr. (Mary); siblings, Drema (Herbert) Hagwood Sr., Alex (Tamarie) Vaughn Jr.; nephew, Herbert Hagwood, Jr.; three nieces, Shawnte’ Hagwood, Andrea, and Alexis Vaughn.
