Cora Jones was born on July 24, 1961, to the union of Lee and Etora Bestor in Newton, Mississippi. Cora began her early education in Mississippi until the family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. Upon relocation to Cleveland, Cora attended Cleveland Public Schools graduating from John Adams High School. Cora united with Anthony Jones, and this union birthed two beautiful children, Antwain and Toya, both of which were her pride and joy.
Cora was proudly employed as a Transit Operator for the Cleveland Regional Transit Authority “RTA” where she retired. Even in her retirement, Cora remained actively employed as a neighborhood Crossing Guard assisting and protecting the youth of her community; being a protective and loving grandmother, this was a way for her to share her care with others.
Cora enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends by traveling, cooking, and having fun at the casino. She was a joy to be around, and holidays were her favorite time to gather with family and friends.
Cora went home to be with the Lord peacefully, on Thursday, December 29, 2022.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Etora Bestor; and siblings, Ann, John, Henry, Mary, and Irene, and Martha.
Cora leaves to cherish her memories, her two loving children, Antwain, and Toya Jones; grandchildren, Antwain Jones Jr., Akeya Jones, Areonna Jones, Jae’shawn Jones, and Ta’Niya Jones; great-grandchild, Jae’Lani Jones; close friend/sister, Ms. Monica Green; as well as a host of other relatives, and friends.
