Corliss Newsome – Nance, age 70, passed away on August 21, 2026. Corliss was the beloved daughter of Mr. James R. Newsome and Mrs. Annie L. Newsome; beloved sister of Mr. Kenneth R. Newsome. She was also the beloved wife and friend of Mr. Donald S. Nance for twenty-two years before Donald’s passing. Corliss is survived by her nephew, Mr. Kristofer J. Newsome (A’Naja) and great niece, Ryleigh M. Newsome and stepdaughter, Teresa Nance and grandchildren, Justes Nance and Briana Forbes- Nance. Corlis was an active member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church and served faithfully in various roles that allowed her to have positive impacts on the many members of the church that Corliss engaged with. Prior to graduating from Clark University (now referred to as Clark Atlanta University) in 1977, Corliss joined the “Pearl Bearing” Sigma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated in 1975. After graduating from Clark University, Corliss returned to the Cleveland area to work in the housing and urban development planning field with the goal of helping people and families to achieve their dreams of securing safe and affordable housing in both the Cleveland and Akron areas. Corliss will be missed but not forgotten!
