On August 6, 1967 in Cleveland Ohio, Curtis Allen Black was the youngest of five children born to the late great Hezekiah and Laura Black. Curtis, grew up in the Lee and Harvard area where he was affectionately known as “Blurtis” or “Blurt” by many who loved him dearly. He spent a lot of his time with his siblings and cousins, they were more like brothers and sisters! Let’s not forget Curtis, loved a plethora of friends that turned into family. At an early age Curtis, professed his love for Christ and in turn was baptized at Lee Road Baptist Church. Curtis, received his education
through Cleveland Municipal School District, a proud graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. Curtis, began his career as an entrepreneur and became “The Jack of all trades.” He was very
passionate about his work, if there was work to be done, he did it.
There was never a dull moment especially in the 90’s when Curtis, met his life partner, Sherine, and bonus son Darren! In 1998, they welcomed their one and only daughter, Curtrice. Curtis was a special person who was loved by all who knew him. Curtis was filled with laughter, joy, always telling funny stories, cracking jokes and he’ll be greatly missed. If he wasn’t spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed helping others whenever he could. That’s just the type of man he was. Curtis was the Epitome of a man! He provided safety, understanding, love and would give you advice even if you didn’t want to hear it. The strength Curtis possessed during perilous times was like none other. Even when life proved “When It Rain, It Pours,” Curtis helped us all weather the storm. Curtis overstood “Joy cometh in the morning,” and he rarely would go without expressing his love for those close to his heart.
Curtis wasn’t afraid to be who God created him to be during the good and bad times on this earth. Curtis knew how to bring everyone together by throwing one of his famous barbeques that always included playing dominoes, or “Bones” as he called it. Our family will go on and remember this heavenly angel has completed his mission and now another will rise and continue to live in Curtis legacy forever more! He was preceded in death by his parents Hezekiah and Laura Black, sister Donna Black., brother Hezekiah Black Jr., and bonus brother Zachary. He leaves to cherish his memory his life partner Sherine, son Darren, daughter Curtrice (Malcolm), granddaughters Mi’Trice, Dallas, Ahmani, and Denver, sisters Sherry and Debbie (Tommy), bonus sisters Pamela, Subrina, and Vanessa, nieces and nephews Talia, Desmond, Mercedes, Tyshon, Caprice, Andreana, Deshon, and Wesley, special cousins Robert Worthy, Kim Jones-Watson, and Eric Williams, and a host of other extended family and close friends.
