CW2 Marcus Jackson 38, passed away on June 2, 2021 in Baumholder, Germany. His life may have been cut short, but he touched the hearts of many while he was with us.
Marcus Jackson was born on October 6, 1982 to Penny Reese and Mark Jackson in Cleveland, OH. He went to Glenville High School and later attended Cleveland State University studying mechanical engineering.
After attending school he enlisted in the United States Army in 2008 where he was assigned to the Army’s Air Defense Artillery team working as a patriot launcher station operator. Over the years he was stationed at several locations to include Fort Bliss, TX, Camp Carroll, Korea and Japan. He then decided to progress in his career and submitted his warrant officer packet in 2013. He got accepted into Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS) and left for training to Fort Rucker, Alabama. Once he completed training he was sent to Fort Sill, OK to attend Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC) where he graduated top of his class.
While stationed at Fort Sill, OK he met and married Sonya Daniel and the couple welcomed their son Makai Jackson in September 2016. Over the next few years Marcus continued to work his way up through the Army by accomplishing many achievements and was awarded for his hard work. He also received many medals: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Korean Defense Service Medal just to name a few. Aside from his successful military career Marcus enjoyed living life to the fullest, traveling and visiting new places. He also loved spending time with his family and being a great father.
He is survived by his wife Sonya Jackson; his children Camerin Patterson, Marcus Xzavier Jackson, Aniyah Bradley, Faye Jackson and Makai Jackson; his step-daughter Saniyah Merricks; his parents Penny Reese and Mark Jackson (Marsatta); his sisters Christina Reese and Nia Jackson; brother Thomas Anthony Jackson; his grandmother Lyndia Russell; special aunt Latoya Maclin; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins
