Rev Dale Levy Sr. was the 6th of ten children born to the late Melvin and Ola Mae Levy on April 16, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio. Dale was educated in the Cleveland Public School System where he attended Glenville High School. He was very popular and was nicknamed “Happy Feet” because he won every dance contest he entered.
Choosing to serve his country, Dale joined the United States Air Force in 1974 and became a staff sergeant. While in the military he received his associate degree in Criminal Justice from Park College in Parkville, MO. After serving his country well for 4 years, he was honorably discharged and received the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.
Dale accepted his call to ministry in the early 1980’s. He attended Maranatha Bible College in Cleveland, Ohio, Trinity Theological Seminary, in Newburgh, Indiana, and Billy Graham School of Evangelism in Wheaton, Illinois. Dale attended and served at Assembly Missionary Baptist Church, Maranatha Christian Fellowship, Willing Workers Missionary Baptist Church and Allen Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he served until his illness prevented him from attending. Over the years he served in many roles including sunday school teacher, vacation bible school director, director of youth, superintendent of sunday school, church coordinator of evangelism ministry, prison ministry and male chorus. He preached the gospel for over 39 years.
Dale worked at AT&T/Ohio Bell which later became Lucent Technologies for 33 years where he retired in April 2003. He received THE SPIRIT OF NCP&D Honors for outstanding contribution from GTE.
Dale has been married to the love of his life Carolyn Levy for 48 years. He was the proud father of four children, Charmaine, Dale Jr., Cordell, and Waldale. He was a family man who enjoyed games, movies, dancing, singing, cooking, chicken, and spending time with his family. He was a die hard Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers fan. Most importantly he loved serving the Lord. Dale loved people, he never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to witness and spread the gospel. His favorite phrase was “Help Me Lord”.
Dale departed this life on August 12, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Ola Mae Levy, his sister Yvonne King, six brothers Robert, Willie, Melvin, John, Raymond, and George, his
mother-in-law and father-in-law Peachie Mae and William Darden, two brother-in-laws William Jr, and Billy Ray Darden.
Dale leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Carolyn Levy, his daughter Charmaine Williams (Charles), three sons, Dale Levy Jr, Cordell Levy (Tarra) and Waldale Levy (Sheena), 13 grandchildren Reginald, Charday, Joanna, Dameon, Faith, Cameron, Markel, Taylor, Andrue, Corey, Joseph, Kennedy, and Kendall, two great grandchildren Giavanna and Jovonni, one brother Roy Levy, one sister Linda Harris (Harry), one brother-in-law Dewayne Darden (Kim) five sister-in-laws, Laura, Patricia, Joyce, Michele, Gail, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.
