Daniel Kenneth Nizer Sr., (affectionately called “Dan”), was born on March 13, 1961 to the union of his wonderful parents, William and Cornell Nizer. Dan is the fifth of what was to be six children to join the Nizer clan.
Upon graduation from high school, he enrolled in Baldwin Wallace College and matriculated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1983. After his college graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was named the Honor Graduate of the Army Legal Specialists Program. After leaving the U.S. Army, he had a strong desire to educate others. He was hired as a Director of Counseling at PSI Institute. When the school closed several years later, he taught high school courses in Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, and Shaker Heights school districts. While teaching young adults, he often refereed high school football games for the Cleveland Municipal School District.
Later in life, he pursued an opportunity at Ford Motor Company in Walton Hills, Ohio where he entered the Ford’s Apprenticeship Program and became a skilled tradesman within five years. Dan was one of several hundred people worldwide selected into the Diversity Teachers’ Training Program where he had the responsibility of delivering training to all Ford employees and contractors. As a specialized trainer, he was still advocating for diversity in the workplace and serving as a member of Ford’s Union – Civil Rights Committee.
Dan was a prideful man and a great provider. He loved spending time with his family and friends. It was truly Dan’s goal to make his wife and sons happy every chance he could. He was an avid Steelers fan. He also loved fishing and playing pool with his sons. He enjoyed attending movie premieres, going to concerts, ballroom dancing, and line dancing. When guests would visit, he welcomed the opportunity to entertain and often made his famous green juice.
Daniel was preceded in death by his loving parents, William and Cornell Nizer. He leaves to mourn his devoted wife, Yolanda and his wonderful sons. Daniel, Jr and William. His amorous siblings, Marlane Mackley (Lamont), Shaker Heights; Adrienne Smith (Michael), Columbus, Ohio; William Nizer Jr, Columbus, Ohio; Robert Nizer Sr. (Diana) East Liverpool, Ohio; Rodney Nizer (Lena) Manchester, New Hampshire. He will also be truly missed by a host of adoring nieces, nephews, cousins and many family and friends.
