Darin E. Malone age 64, went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2022.
Darin Eugene Malone was born on November 14, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio. As a child he earned the nickname “Peanut” and it stuck with him throughout his life. He attended Ramah Junior Academy and graduated from John Adams High School in 1977.
He attended Glenville Seventh-day Adventist Church with his family and was baptized in the early 1970’s. Darin transferred his membership to Bethel S.D.A. Church and attended when his health allowed.
He began working early at age fourteen, often accompanying his mother, Georgiana to her job in the restaurant hospitality field. After graduating high school, his places of employment included The Red Baron Restaurant and Executive Caterers at Landerhaven and Ramah Christian School.
Darin excelled in the culinary field and served these local clients for various events, The Black Women’s Political Action Committee, the late Senator Barbara Boyd, the late Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, The O’Jays, Bertha Roberson, Judge Shirley Saffold, Judge Una Keenon and the Glenville Seventh-day Adventist Church (Bereavement Ministry), just to name a few. Of course, Darin was “Master” chef for our Family Reunions and other important events for many years.
He retired from Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital in the late 90’s, where he was fondly known to the children as the “Food Man.”
In his leisure time, Darin enjoyed shopping, attending plays, concerts, traveling with his dear cousins on cruises and visiting his favorite uncle Jack in Florida. Although Darin experienced several health issues, he never complained and pushed on to undertake and complete whatever task he was asked to do. On December 11, 2022, he passed away peacefully at home.
Darin leaves to cherish fond memories, his mother, Georgiana Crider, a brother, Maynard McCulley (Karisa), nieces, TaTeonna, and Moni’echa McCulley, nephews, Hasani and Tahjee McCulley, aunts, Eunice Kamara, Joyce Anderson (Vincent), Gladys, Pearl and Leanna Crider, uncles James Jack, Luther Ridley, and Herman Crider (Mattie), “favorite cousins”, Shirley Love (Dennis), Calvin Crider (Donna), Karen Ridley (Eric), a lifelong friend, Emmett Johnson, many cousins, other relatives and friends who will surely miss him.
