Darius Trey Hoisten a life-long resident of Akron, Ohio died unexpectedly on May 22, 2023. Darius was born August 24, 1993 to Gerry Hoisten and Kimberly Singletary in Akron, Ohio. He was the youngest of their three children.
Darius graduated from Garfield High School in 2012. While at Garfield he played football and basketball. He was a two-year starter quarterback. In March 2012, he earned the American Team Award.
After graduating from Garfield, Darius attended the University of Akron. In his freshman year at the University, he played basketball. Darius was a tremendous athlete and his skills contributed to him assisting the University of Akron in reaching the NCAA Basketball Tournament (March Madness) in March 2013.
In 2014, Darius received a basketball scholarship to Georgia South Western.
Darius was employed by the United States Postal Service as a supervisor. He was also the proud owner of his detailing service, Hoist Auto Cleaning, LLC.
Darius was preceded in death by his daughter, Serenity Hoisten; grandparents, Willie Hoisten and Jacqueline Singletary; great-grandparents, Lillie Mae Beamon and Jackie (Willie) Singletary; cousin/brother, Dante Griffin.
Darius leaves behind to cherish his memory forever daughters Rylee L. and Nova E. Hoisten who were the love of his life; partner, Meriah Lewis; parents, Gerry W. Hoisten and Kimberly Singletary; sisters, Tamia (Terrell) Phoenix and Kourtney Hoisten; grandparents, Bettye Gary and Selmar aka Johnny (Jeannette) Perdue; special aunt, Angela Perdue; nephews, Mark W. Johnson III and Martez Johnson; niece, Markae Johnson; god sisters, Shelby and Neesha McMillian and Natasha Griffin; goddaughters, Leila, Alayah, and Aubrielle; friend, Derren Lewis; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Darius will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.
