Darnell Lorenzo Taylor, 53, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at Akron City Hospital located in Akron, Ohio.
Darnell was born March 18, 1968, in Ravenna, Ohio to Warnell L. and Olivia (Monson) Taylor.
Darnell’s work history was brief as he suffered from many disabling illnesses. Even though he was unable to hold a job, he spent time writing both books and producing plays and music. One of his earliest productions was Willie Woo Woo, which was shown both in Rock Island, Illinois and Akron, Ohio.
He accepted God as his personal Savior at an early age while attending Mount Calvary Baptist Church located in Ravenna, Ohio. Later in life, he moved to Rock Island, Illinois and joined Greater Antioch Baptist Church. It was there that Darnell accepted the call from God and he preached his first sermon on August 19, 2007. He received his confirmation and was ordained as a minister of the Gospel.
Darnell was preceded in death by his father, Warnell L. Taylor; his infant brother, ORlando Warnell Taylor; grandparents, Dennis and Mildred Monson; step-grandmothers, Mary Monson Robbins and Carrie Prester Monson; his uncle, Frederick J. Monson; as well as several aunts, uncles and close friends.
He is survived by his mother, Olivia Taylor of Milan, IL; a son, Daevon Taylor; a daughter, Delisha Taylor; two grandchildren; sister, Denice (Donnell) Young of Memphis, TN; sister/caregiver, Stephanie (Buffy) A Monson Adams of Akron, OH; stepbrothers, George Jr., Derrick, Dwayne, Michael and Tony Jackson; special friend, Raymond Dukes; as well as a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
