In the early hours of august 24, 2024, a cloud open up and David E. Pasini was ushered into heaven. Dave as he was affectionately called, was born December 7, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Louis and Irma Pasini who preceded him in death.
The oldest of four siblings, he attended Saint Phillips & James middle school where he excelled in track and field. At a young age Dave was destine to serve. He served as a loyal and valuable member of the school safety patrol, helping to protect his schoolmates from traffic dangers, he received merit awards for his service. Dave graduated from Cathedral Latin high school, with honors in 1965. And remained active serving on the alumni committee after graduation.
He continued his passion to serve by joining the Cleveland police department in 1969. Dave graduated the 78th Police Academy class in 1970. His assignments included third district basic patrol, community relations, where he was detailed to mayor Voinovich security team from 1981 until 1989. Dave was promoted to sergeant and assigned to the forth district as officer in charge.
The year 1989 was very significant to Dave for many reasons, not only did he find his forever home in the fourth district, he also found his best friend Calvin Brown and his god son Corey Brown, Dave became part of their family, when he was not working he spent the rest of his time along with Calvin coaching Corey’s Little League baseball teams. Dave made sure he was there for Corey. Football season was no different Dave made sure he never missed a practice or a game during Corey’s high school years. The football games gave Dave great joy so he remained with the Bedford Bear Cats football team working as a chain gang member. In 1987 he met his longtime friend, comrade and confidant retired detective Denise Oatman he became part of her extended family as well. They spent time talking, laughing and joking on and off duty. They shared a little black pug named Rujo, Dave loved Rujo unconditionally, she could do anything she want he didn’t care, Rujo and Dave were inseparable.
Dave had many hobbies, he enjoyed traveling, collecting sports memorabilia, watching sports, old classic movies, old TV shows, golfing, gardening, his biggest hobby was eating good food, Dave loved to eat.
Dave retired from the Cleveland police Department in 1998, after 29 years of service. He would have breakfast every Monday visiting different Restaurants with his retired buddies. I jokingly called them “the breakfast bunch.” He enjoyed laughing and talking on the phone with his brother Dan every day. Dave spent his last days at the woodlands of Shaker, in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Rujo and I would visit him on a regular basis to put a smile on his face. He leaves to cherish his memory sister Norma miller, brother Dan Pasini, (Linda) sister Joann Cantwell, God son Corey brown, best friend Calvin brown, friend and advocate Denise Oatman, Cleveland police family, nieces, nephews, and host of friends too many to mention.
