David Finney Jr. was born to David Sr. and Mattie Ruth Finney on December 25,1965 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was one of two children. David grew up in what is now known as the Cleveland Midtown area and graduated from Max S. Hayes High School.
David loved sports and with his family originally rooted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. David was a hard worker and provider, often holding multiple jobs at a time. He loved playing the Ohio Lottery and took extreme pride in the upkeep of his home lawn.
David and Johnette were united in Holy Matrimony on June 18,1999; this union gave David three bonus children and a family of Cleveland Browns fans. He would spend many years in a divided house on those football Sundays when the Steelers played the Browns. In later years, David’s most treasured name was “PaPa”. David took great joy in being a grandfather and his face would light up at the mention of his baby girl Jonnelle. At any given moment, David would boast at how much Jonnelle loved him. They had a very special bond and countless park dates after picking her up from school, which he did daily.
David is preceded in death by his parents David Sr. and Mattie Ruth Finney, sister Lillian Caver, mother-in-law Joyce Redding, brothers-in-law Robert Redding III and Michael Redding Sr.
David leaves to celebrate his life, his loving wife Johnette, bonus children; John Busch, Vernell Mays II and Brianna Mays; two uncles Leonard Whitley (Pat), Ernest Whitley (Hazel); three aunts, Francis Whitley, Naomi Brown, and Beatrice Hollis; two sisters-in-law; Dena Boykin (James), Shawn Smith (Michael) and brother-in-law Derrick Busch Sr.; grandchildren; Raysean, Vernell III, Jayla, Jonnelle and Marielle.
